Our group assignment for this time is to interview someone or most likely anyone which have education and working experience. We had to choose some outsider from Tanjung Malim town and outside UPSI. At first we choose to interview English teacher in the primary school. It is because English teacher able to answer and communicate with us without any problems but soon we realise that interview an English teacher is not very challenging. So we decided to interview someone from other background. We chose to interview someone around our Ages, but currently had a job. The reason because we want to encourage and motivate our self to become someone successful one day. We have to make ten questions that we want to ask the person. The questions have to connecting with each other and related with our subject English Communication 1.
After we had discussed for 3 days, we decided to interview Nuramirah Zakiah bt Mohd Dimyati friend’s, Mr.Lukman Adam Khoo bin Farizul Khoo. He works as an assistant engineer in Nuritech Solution. His job needed him to deal with people because the main purpose of the company is to distribute items for institution around Malaysia such as furniture, machinery, electrical items and so on. He is a very busy person. Even on Saturday, he had to work and sometimes on Sunday also. So if we want to make an appointment with him, we had to make it two or three weeks earlier. Sometimes have to work outstation when he needs to distribute the item according to the orders. Finally on Saturday 19 November 2011, we had the chance to interview him. He invited us to make an interview at Papa Rich in Batu Caves. From this situation, we can say that he is a humble person.
During that day, we headed to Batu Caves to take turn driving and take us one and half hour to reach there. We meet him at the KTM Batu Caves and he takes us to Papa Rich. We arrived at Papa Rich at 9.00 am in the morning. So we had breakfast together while chatting with him casually before we start the interview. From this situation we can see that he is very nice person and can communicate well with others. After breakfast we start our interview. We take turn to ask him questions. Each person ask two questions. We have to communicate with him completely in English. While others ask questions, some of us were taking picture of the interview scene. We also record our conversation to make it as a proof that we had interview him. After 30 minutes, we finish the interview and we thanked him for his kindness and willing to cooperate with us.
We had such a great experience when we interviewed him. We gain more knowledge and we know what the different among students and workers. Although that we are at the same age but we had a very different life. As a worker he uses 50 percent of his daily life using English and he confident to do that because he use English since he in primary school. So, we should encourage our self to improve our English from now and become more confident to talk in English in front a lot of people. We believe that English is a commercial language that just not been use only in communication but it is worldwide language. People all over the world using English as their second language.
In the end, we do our report using the audio that we had record last time. We write our report exactly according to what Mr. Adam told us during the interview. From the interview, we can conclude that work as a team is a good thing. We also learn many new things such as communicate in English in public. Some of us never had a chance to talk with people in English.
